PBS Newshour asks, “If kratom helps opioid addicts, why might DEA outlaw it?”

In the wake of over 300,000 overdose deaths in the last 16 years, why would the DEA consider banning a safe, non-toxic alternative to opiates that does NOT cause respiratory depression? Scientists that have actually performed formal research on kratom agree that it has a huge potential to save lives.  Those that want kratom banned are not providing any research to support their claims.  This informative PBS Newshour video does a great job of shedding light on both sides of the kratom discussion. Listen to both sides and make up your own mind.
